The
Robot Maker. A beautifully illustrated but
short-lived feature. Robbie McHinery’s
Dad was an inventor whose inventions normally didn’t work but one day he invented
a machine capable of replicating human beings by building identical robots. Drawn by
Frank McDiarmid in his Ken Reid-imitation style that he had used in the mid-60s
on Big Head and Thick Head in THE
DANDY. The feature ran for 20 weeks from the first issue until 17th October,
1970 (No. 20). The Robot Maker did
not appear on 26th September, 1970 (issue 17).
