I am happy to announce that the campaign has
now reached 100 per cent of its goal! The most recent supporter was the 17
year-old British Artist/Satirist Zoom Rockman, and this demonstrates that the
appreciation of Ken’s work goes way beyond nostalgia!
There are still nearly three weeks to go, and
the fact that the goal has now been reached does not mean that further
contributions aren’t accepted! The Etherington brothers achieved 24 000 per
cent with their recent Kickstarter project! :)
Remember that backers of the campaign will be
the only ones who will be proud owners of the slipcase edition and the prints of
original artwork – these perks won’t be available to the general public when
the campaign ends and the books are printed!
Long time fan of Ken Reid's work since I started reading Jonah in the Beano back in the late 1950's.
ReplyDeleteIt was always the best strip in the comic IMHO and since reading Baxendale's history I see I'm in good company.
I have purchased every reprint of his work for myself and my daughter (who is a professional animator/film maker) - she thinks he's amazing - and I can see some of his style in her work. She is Canadian and grew up reading old Beano's that I collected.
Ken Reid is an artistic treasure and a pioneer/elder in the comic book industry and I am surprised he is not more well known internationally.
Now to the crux of my comment. WHERE ARE THE JONAH REPRINTS!!!
Are there any? If not why not? I am willing to help in whatever way I can to generate these for distribution. I am semi retired and have time to spare.
Suggestions anyone? I can be reached at nick (at) thecatswhisker (dot) com
