Here is the first festive episode from the only X-mas number of Shiver and Shake weekly (Dec. 29th, 1973, No. 43):
There was also a 4-page episode in SHIVER AND SHAKE Annual 1974 that came out for the X-mas of 1973:
Hi and welcome to my blog about comics from other people’s childhood! It is dedicated primarily to British humour comics of the 60s and 70s. The reason they are not from my childhood is simply because I didn’t live in the UK back then (nor do I live there now). I knew next to nothing about them until fairly recently but since then I’ve developed a strong liking for the medium and amassed a large collection, including a number of complete or near complete sets. My intention is to use this blog as a channel for sharing my humble knowledge about different titles, favourite characters and creators as I slowly research my collection.
QUICK TIP: this blog is a sequence of posts covering one particular comic at a time. The sequence follows a certain logic, so for maximum results it is recommended that the blog is read from the oldest post up.

I always love this feature....thanks Irmantas
ReplyDeleteI remember Scream Inn very well. The strip had a very distinctive look. I wish Shiver & Shake had lasted longer than it did, but at least I was a (very) small part of it in the form of a Creepy Creation.
ReplyDeleteBlissful!
ReplyDeleteOne great thing about Brian Walker is that he was a masterful macabre artist but his non-macabre work was highly appealing, too. Are you familiar with his Old Boy strip from Whizzer and Chips, Irmantas, which especially looked great when it had a blue tint?
I wish I had that Shiver and Shake Christmas Special.
I am familiar with Walker's Old Boy feature, Raven, although I haven't had the time to look closely at it. I think it started in the summer of 1975 and ended early in 1976. My notes say I have all but one issue of Wh&Ch from that period and I will surely be checking the strip out :)
