welcome and enjoy!

Hi and welcome to my blog about comics from other people’s childhood! It is dedicated primarily to British humour comics of the 60s and 70s. The reason they are not from my childhood is simply because I didn’t live in the UK back then (nor do I live there now). I knew next to nothing about them until fairly recently but since then I’ve developed a strong liking for the medium and amassed a large collection, including a number of complete or near complete sets. My intention is to use this blog as a channel for sharing my humble knowledge about different titles, favourite characters and creators as I slowly research my collection.

QUICK TIP: this blog is a sequence of posts covering one particular comic at a time. The sequence follows a certain logic, so for maximum results it is recommended that the blog is read from the oldest post up.

PRINTING CONTRACT SIGNED!

This afternoon I signed the contract with the printing house. All files will be submitted to them on 2 July, and I will receive hard copies of the books by 18 July!

Slipcases will take another 3 or 4 weeks to make, so I am happy that so far everything goes to plan. Those who pre-order individual books, will receive them by the end of July, and those who prefer the luxury of The Power Pack, will get theirs in the end of August.

The campaign is 109 per cent backed as of now, and is open for a further 11 days. Check it out here: THE POWER PACK OF KEN REID

BOOM! - 100 PER CENT GOAL REACHED!

I am happy to announce that the campaign has now reached 100 per cent of its goal! The most recent supporter was the 17 year-old British Artist/Satirist Zoom Rockman, and this demonstrates that the appreciation of Ken’s work goes way beyond nostalgia!

There are still nearly three weeks to go, and the fact that the goal has now been reached does not mean that further contributions aren’t accepted! The Etherington brothers achieved 24 000 per cent with their recent Kickstarter project! :)

Remember that backers of the campaign will be the only ones who will be proud owners of the slipcase edition and the prints of original artwork – these perks won’t be available to the general public when the campaign ends and the books are printed!

CROWDFUNDING NEWS UPDATE – NEARLY THERE!

The IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to print the official complete collection of Ken Reid’s Odhams work is now 92 per cent backed, and I am hoping for 100 per cent and more by the end of the week – with over three weeks still to go!

Here is the link, if you wish to support the campaign and pre-order your copy of the special edition in a slipcase with free prints of original artwork that will only be available to backers of the crowdfunder: THE POWER PACK OF KEN REID

Time for the second half of Frankie Stein original artwork page from the collection of Julius Howe – thanks again for the images, Julius!

NB: Please, note that this is not the original artwork that will come with the books!

CROWDFUNDING NEWS UPDATE – 75 PER CENT AND COUNTING!

The crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to print the official complete collection of Ken Reid’s Odhams work has been well received by fans. It is already more than 75 per cent backed – and there’s still a month to go!

Thanks to all who contributed so far, and here’s the link for those who would like to join the fun: THE POWER PACK OF KEN REID

To celebrate this achievement, here are some shots of Ken’s original Frankie Stein artwork – the top half of the page, followed by individual panels of the same. I will save the bottom half for later.

The image was kindly supplied by Julius Howe who owns the page and is one of the backers of the campaign, so special thank you to you, Julius!

NB: Please, note that this is not the original artwork that will come with the books!
