welcome and enjoy!

Hi and welcome to my blog about comics from other people’s childhood! It is dedicated primarily to British humour comics of the 60s and 70s. The reason they are not from my childhood is simply because I didn’t live in the UK back then (nor do I live there now). I knew next to nothing about them until fairly recently but since then I’ve developed a strong liking for the medium and amassed a large collection, including a number of complete or near complete sets. My intention is to use this blog as a channel for sharing my humble knowledge about different titles, favourite characters and creators as I slowly research my collection.

QUICK TIP: this blog is a sequence of posts covering one particular comic at a time. The sequence follows a certain logic, so for maximum results it is recommended that the blog is read from the oldest post up.

LICENSED REPRINT BOOK OF SCREAM INN BY BRIAN WALKER

Readers of this blog will know that I’m a big fan of Brian Walker. I’m proud to announce I’ve just published a licensed collected edition of Scream Inn. It collects all episodes from Shiver & Shake weeklies that ran from 1973 till 1974 when Shiver & Shake was merged into Whoopee!, along with those from all Shiver & Shake Holiday Specials and Annuals.

The 196-page book is available in hardback and paperback formats, the former comes with a colour free print. I’ve written a 5-page intro based on my research of Brian Walker’s diaries, kindly supplied to me by his widow Mo Walker, who has contributed a 3-page afterword. The both of our texts are illustrated with photos from the Walker family archive. Copies can be purchased exclusively from my e-shop here: https://www.kazoop-comics-shop.com/

And while you’re there, why not check out my other reprint books :) Earlier this year I published two by Leo Baxendale: Mervyn’s Monsters, originally from BUSTER (the hardcover edition is sold out but (at the time of writing this) the paperback version is still available), as well as The Swots and the Blots, originally from SMASH! (a mere handful of hardcover and paperback editions is left, but they won’t last once the sales of Scream Inn pick up, believe me 😊 ).
