welcome and enjoy!

Hi and welcome to my blog about comics from other people’s childhood! It is dedicated primarily to British humour comics of the 60s and 70s. The reason they are not from my childhood is simply because I didn’t live in the UK back then (nor do I live there now). I knew next to nothing about them until fairly recently but since then I’ve developed a strong liking for the medium and amassed a large collection, including a number of complete or near complete sets. My intention is to use this blog as a channel for sharing my humble knowledge about different titles, favourite characters and creators as I slowly research my collection.

QUICK TIP: this blog is a sequence of posts covering one particular comic at a time. The sequence follows a certain logic, so for maximum results it is recommended that the blog is read from the oldest post up.

FINAL EPISODE OF JOE COLQUHOUN’S CAP’N CODSMOUTH

Joe Colquhoun’s Cap’n Codsmouth (originally from JAG weekly comic) made three appearances in JAG Annuals, and the final was in the last edition published for the Xmas of 1972. The complete 5-page story is posted below. One day I will get hold of a copy of JAG Football Special 1968 and check if the episode included there was also illustrated by Mr. Colquhoun.

Brilliant artist, isn’t he?

  1. Superb stuff, Irmy. Do you know if he drew any other humour strips, or have you already covered that?

    1. Yes, he drew Goodies in Cor!! throughout 1973. Football Family Robinson in Jag is another humour strip that he illustrated. Also the odd one-off in an annual or a special. You can find more details and scans if you press the Joe Colquhoun label in the column on the right hand side.

I would really like to find out if the episode of International Street in Shiver and Shake 1976 Holiday Special is part of a series reprinted from an older comic.
