welcome and enjoy!

Hi and welcome to my blog about comics from other people’s childhood! It is dedicated primarily to British humour comics of the 60s and 70s. The reason they are not from my childhood is simply because I didn’t live in the UK back then (nor do I live there now). I knew next to nothing about them until fairly recently but since then I’ve developed a strong liking for the medium and amassed a large collection, including a number of complete or near complete sets. My intention is to use this blog as a channel for sharing my humble knowledge about different titles, favourite characters and creators as I slowly research my collection.

QUICK TIP: this blog is a sequence of posts covering one particular comic at a time. The sequence follows a certain logic, so for maximum results it is recommended that the blog is read from the oldest post up.

SERIALISED FACEACHE STORIES – PART THREE: THRASHBOTTOM SLEEPWALKING

It took Ken two months to come up with his next Faceache story arch, this one spanning two weeks, in BUSTER cover dated 6th May and 13th May, 1978.

Little Timothy Twadle receives a food parcel from home. He and Faceache decide to have a midnight feast while all other kids are asleep. Anxious not to wake Mr. Thrashbottom, they tie pillows to their feet...

...Faceache is heating food tins on the stove; Alfie Skunk starts to snore and they put a clothes peg on his nose. But the snoring noise has already got Thrashbottom out of bed and he’s coming downstairs to check…

Thrashbottom catches the boys red-handed and prepares to thrash them but Faceache runs a couple of scrunges at him and discovers that the Headmaster has been walking in his sleep! Faceache instructs Timothy to keep an eye on the grub while he leads the fool back to bed. All is well until the tinned food explodes on the stove because they forgot to punch holes in the tins before heating...

...This time Thrashbottom comes down wide awake and the boys suffer a thrashing.
